# Flags

Interface Fundamentals / Flags

**Flags** are a way to label items with additional context.&#x20;

You can assign meaning to each flag color. For instance, you could use red flags to indicate that a new product image is needed and blue flags to show that a vendor price adjustment is pending.&#x20;

When assigned, items appear with a flag icon in their specific window and are identified with a colored dot in list views.

***

## Assign a Flag

# Hardware Set Up

Connect and configure your external devices.

Depending on whether you are using Tuplo Studio to sell online, in-store, or both, additional hardware may be required or beneficial.

***

## Barcode Scanner

Point-of-Sal&#x65;**:&#x20;**<mark style="color:green;">**Recommended**</mark>\
Online: <mark style="color:blue;">**Optional**</mark>

{% hint style="info" %}
**Our Recommendation**

Any Bluetooth scanner that reads UPC and Code 39 barcodes.
{% endhint %}

Using a barcode scanner will allow you to quickly enter product IDs when performing product searches, receiving inventory from vendors, and, most importantly, performing point-of-sale transactions. While not technically required in any of these situations, it will significantly increase productivity compared to manually entering product IDs.

1. **Plug In the Scanner**: Connect your scanner to your system. A window should automatically open, indicating the system recognizes a new keyboard device.
2. **Activate Your Scanner**: When instructed to press a keyboard button, scan any barcode instead.
3. **Choose Keyboard Setting**: When prompted, select the **ANSI** setting. This is required for the correct interpretation of barcode data.
4. **Ensure** that your scanner is set to **Auto-enter** or **Carriage Return**.
5. **Test the Scanner**: Open any text editor and scan a barcode to test. A functioning scanner will input the barcode as text directly into the editor.
6. **Factory Reset (If Necessary)**: If the scanner does not work as expected, refer to the user manual for factory reset instructions. Then, repeat this process from the start.

Your barcode scanner is now fully operational and ready to use.

Online: <mark style="color:red;">**Not Applicable**</mark>

{% hint style="info" %}

Point-of-Sal&#x65;**:&#x20;**<mark style="color:green;">**Recommended**</mark>\
Online: <mark style="color:red;">**Not Applicable**</mark>

{% hint style="info" %}
**Our Recommendation**

Any cash drawer that is compatible with your chosen receipt printer.
{% endhint %}

While a manual cash drawer can be used, an optimal solution is a printer-driven cash drawer that opens whenever a receipt is printed. If you want a printer-driven cash drawer, please ensure your receipt printer has the capability and port for this functionality. Regardless, a cash drawer is an obvious choice for Point-of-Sale transactions.

# Assets

Creating and organizing product assets.

<figure><img src="/files/ij3aTAmgUYBO0doe0n2M" alt=""><figcaption><p>Property Folders as seen in the Categories tab.</p></figcaption></figure>

**Assets** include [categories](/using-tuplo-studio/assets/categories), [attributes](/using-tuplo-studio/assets/attributes), [themes](/using-tuplo-studio/assets/themes), and [images](/using-tuplo-studio/assets/images) that describe and organize products. You can apply them to many products by defining them once and streamlining product organization categorization.

# Categories

Assets / Categories

<figure><img src="/files/ij3aTAmgUYBO0doe0n2M" alt=""><figcaption><p>Category assets.</p></figcaption></figure>

Categories are the primary way to organize your products in Tuplo. Once you establish them, you can assign categories to product groups, making it easier for customers to find what they want on your website with just a few clicks.

<figure><img src="/files/S59j3EQI0mqyPg9pF28R" alt=""><figcaption><p>Categories as they appear on your website.</p></figcaption></figure>

Categories provide a broad description of your products. Examples include clothing, camping supplies, and car parts. They are structured hierarchically, allowing for unlimited nesting to offer maximum flexibility. However, it's best to keep the structure simple.

{% hint style="info" %}
**SEO Considerations**

Use categories to structure your website and optimize its indexing by search engines like Google and Bing. Once established, minimize changes unless necessary to reduce the need to re-index your website.
{% endhint %}

## Keywords

**Keywords** are unique descriptions that further detail categories and product groups. As additional terms available to assign to categories, they make products associated with them more visible in searches on your website.

By default, products in Tuplo Studio are automatically indexed and searchable on your website so customers can easily find them. These indexes include the product brand, title, category, color, and size. To illustrate, consider a running shoe product with the following characteristics:

* **Brand**: Alta Athletics
* **Title**: Swift Runner
* **Category**: Footwear / Athletic Shoes / Running Shoes
* **Colors**: Red, Blue, White
* **Sizes**: 8, 9, 10, 11, 12

The index for these shoes includes all provided words, ensuring the Alta Swift Runner appears in search results for 'running shoes' on your website. However, if the user searches for "jogging sneaker" instead, the Alta Swift Runner will not appear in the results.

Keywords help by adding the words "jogging' and "sneaker" to the Running Shoes category. Now, Alta Swift Runner and any other product groups assigned to this category will show in searches for "jogging sneaker."

***

### Inherited Keywords

Since categories support folder nesting, you can take it one step further when optimizing keywords. By assigning a keyword to a category containing multiple categories, that keyword applies to all of them as an **Inherited Keyword**.

So, you could apply the keyword "sneaker" to the Athletic Shoes category, which would assign the keyword to every category inside.

***

### Assign to a Category

To **assign** keywords:

1. **Select** a category.
2. **Select** the Keywords tab.
3. **Click** on the text input.
4. **Type** the keyword.
5. **Press** Return<mark style="color:blue;">.</mark>

***

### Remove a Keyword

Keywords assigned directly to a category can be deleted from within them, while you'll need to delete inherited keywords from the parent folder&#x73;**.**

To **delete** a keyword:

1. **Select** a category.
2. **Click** the desired keyword.
3. **Press** Delete.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Quick Tips!**

You can also navigate the text entry using the Arrow keys and remove keywords using the Delete key.
{% endhint %}

***

## Attributes

Categories include the ability to assign attributes and further define associated product groups.

Since you need to create the attributes before you can assign them, check the following section on [attributes](/using-tuplo-studio/assets/attributes) for steps to create and assign them to categories.

***

## Tax Status

You can apply tax information to a category and any nested categories within. There are several options depending on what services you have integrated with your Tuplo account.

# Attributes

Assets / Attributes

<figure><img src="/files/lplMoH94We8TJjSRLXAL" alt=""><figcaption><p>Attribute assets.</p></figcaption></figure>

## What are Attributes?

Often, different product groups assigned to the same category have nuanced differences. **Attributes** help solve this problem by describing these differences once the category defines a product group. For example, a category titled "pants," which involves products of different materials and age ranges, would be assigned the attributes of denim and youth sizes.

***

## Why use Attributes?

Attributes primarily provide filtering options to users on your website when searching for products. When viewing a category page or browsing search results, users will see any attributes showing products grouped by type, allowing them to select these to narrow their results. For example, a site user searching for "casual pants" might see material filters for denim, polyester, and cotton.

Effectively utilizing attributes will enhance your customers' shopping experience, allowing them to find what they are looking for and, as a result, increase sales.

***

## Create Attributes

Then, to **add** attributes:

1. **Select** the desired group.
2. **Choose&#x20;**<mark style="color:blue;">**More Options > New Attribute**</mark>.
3. **Enter** a title.
4. **Press** Return.

***

## Assign Attributes

<figure><img src="/files/e30FkSalhZcN7kdCyTjE" alt=""><figcaption><p>Select the attributes and click add selected to assign them to a category.</p></figcaption></figure>

Attributes help focus on differences when comparing product groups, but they should still apply to all products within the assigned product group. For example, a product group for Levi's Jeans would feature the attribute of **Material > Demin**.

To **assign** an attribute to a category:

1. **Select** a category in the Categories tab.
2. **Click** the Attributes Window button.
3. **Select** the attributes you want to add.
4. **Click** add selected.

***

### Unassign Attributes

To **unassign** an attribute from a category:

1. **Select** a category in the Categories ta&#x62;**.**
2. **Select** an attribute.
3. **Press** Delete.

## Delete Attributes

To **delete** an attribute:

1. **Select** an attribute.
2. **Choose** <mark style="color:blue;">**More Options > Delete attribute**</mark>.
3. **Click** OK to confirm.

# Themes

Assets / Themes

<figure><img src="/files/1a1UqwPD2Ohg6iKukWcz" alt=""><figcaption><p>Theme assets.</p></figcaption></figure>

## Understanding Themes

While product groups categorize your products at a high level, **Themes** allow you to drill down even further, adding another layer of specificity to individual items.

Think of it like this:

* **Product Groups:** Clothing, electronics, home goods. (Broad strokes.)
* **Themes:** Sports teams, car models, music artists. (Finer details.)

Product groups are often sufficient for products with simple variations like size and color. However, themes become essential when your products have more unique attributes that customers might search for or browse. They empower you to create a more organized and user-friendly experience on your website.

### **Examples of Products that Benefit from Themes**

* Sports jerseys (themed by team)
* Auto parts (themed by car make and model)
* Band merchandise (themed by artist)

***

## Applying Themes

While themes are a powerful tool, they're not always necessary. Basic categories and attributes like size and color are sufficient for many sellers. However, for products with a wide range of distinct variations, themes can significantly enhance the shopping experience.

Themes are most effective when they cater to specific customer needs and preferences. They should help shoppers narrow their options, not overwhelm them with too many choices. Think of them as extra filters that go beyond the basic categories on your website.

For example, a customer looking for a Dallas Cowboys jersey doesn't want to see all football jerseys. They want to filter directly to their team. Themes make that possible.

### Seller use Examples

| Seller             | Categories                    | Themes                                         |
| ------------------ | ----------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------- |
| Sports Memorabilia | Hats, Jerseys, Jackets | Arizona Cardinals, Dallas Cowboys, LA Chargers |
| Auto Parts | Mufflers, Hubcaps, Mirrors | Ford, Chevy, Dodge |
| Music Store | Albums, CD's, Shirts, Posters | Elvis, The Beetles, Johnny Cash |

{% hint style="info" %}
**Quick Tips!**

In the auto parts example, Ford, Chevy, and Dodge are assigned as themes, allowing customers to easily find parts for their specific vehicle, even if third-party brands make those parts. The product group brand signifies the manufacturer (e.g., Edelbrock), while the Theme signifies the compatible vehicle make.
{% endhint %}

By using themes strategically, you can:

* **Guide shoppers:** Help them quickly find the products they're most interested in.
* **Improve search results:** Ensure relevant products appear when customers use specific keywords.
* **Create a personalized experience:** Allow shoppers to browse by their interests and preferences.

Remember, the goal is to simplify and enhance the shopping journey, not complicate it. Use themes thoughtfully to create a more intuitive and enjoyable customer experience.

***

## Solving the Categorization Challenge

Imagine you're selling a line of football caps, each representing a different NFL team. If you group them all under one product group (e.g., "Football Hats"), customers searching for a specific team's hat will be overwhelmed with irrelevant results.

Leaving two significant problems:

1. **Inaccurate Search Results:** A search for "Dallas Cowboys hat" would return hats for all 32 teams.
2. **Limited Navigation Options:** Your website menu would only show a generic "Football Hats" category, making it difficult for customers to filter by team.

### **Themes to the Rescue**

Themes offer a solution by allowing you to categorize individual products within the product group.

* **Targeted Search:** Customers searching for "Dallas Cowboys hat" will see only the relevant products.
* **Refined Filtering:** Your website menu can offer filters for each team within the "Football Hats" category.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Quick Tips!**

Themes also streamline your workflow within Tuplo Studio. In the Product Search tab, you can easily filter products by theme, making it easy to find all items related to a specific team.
{% endhint %}

***

## **Product Building & Naming**

Let's return to our example of the Eon Sports Team Series Cap. Imagine creating a product for each of the 32 NFL teams, each available in three colors (black, white, and silver). Without themes, this becomes a daunting task:

* **Manual Entry Overload:** Each team name must be added as a separate visual property, leading to dozens of individual product listings.
* **Limited List Functionality:** Even if you stored team names in a list, you'd still have to manually combine them with colors, creating a complex and unwieldy catalog.
* **Filter Overload:** Displaying each color-team combination (e.g., "Dallas Cowboys Black") as a filter option would overwhelm customers.

In short, managing variations without themes quickly becomes a logistical nightmare.

### Streamline Product Creation and Management

Themes not only simplify product creation but also streamline the entire management process:

* **Effortless Creation:** Drag and drop the desired themes (e.g., NFL teams) into your product group. Then, in the Product Builder, select the relevant visual and non-visual properties (like colors and sizes) and click "Build." Tuplo automatically generates all the corresponding product variations, saving you significant time and effort.
* **Intelligent Naming:** Tuplo uses the assigned theme to automatically construct product names, ensuring consistency and accuracy across your website and within Tuplo Studio. This eliminates manual naming and minimizes the risk of errors.
* **Centralized Updates:** Since each product links to its assigned theme, you can easily update theme information (like a team name change) in one central location, and the change will automatically apply to all associated products throughout your catalog.

With themes, managing complex product lines becomes a breeze. Allowing you to focus on growing your business rather than getting bogged down in tedious manual tasks.

***

## Add Themes

Themes form groups, and [adding one to a product group](/using-tuplo-studio/product-groups/themes#assign-a-theme) includes the entire group, unlike other assets.

To **add** themes:

# Lists

Assets / Lists

<figure><img src="/files/tpG6q3Ro4EruIwBSduf8" alt=""><figcaption><p>List assets.</p></figcaption></figure>

**Lists** are common [visual and non-visual properties](/using-tuplo-studio/product-groups/visual-and-non-visual-properties) (like colors and sizes) that differentiate items within a product group. Building a library of these common properties lets you quickly drag and drop them when creating new products.

***

## Why Use Lists?

* **Efficiency:** Quickly assemble product groups by reusing pre-defined attributes.
* **Focus:** Lists emphasize the product distinctions (e.g., color, size), making it easier to find the correct details.
* **Flexibility:** Store Visual (e.g., color) and n]Non-Visual (e.g., size) properties for comprehensive product descriptions.

***

## Create a New Group

Before you can add attributes, you need to make at least one group.

# Product Groups

A better way to organize products.

<figure><img src="/files/MW62Po8A3v3Nd5PnGWl4" alt=""><figcaption><p>The Products tab of the Navigator Window</p></figcaption></figure>

## What are Product Groups?

Products rarely have just one variation. For example, a t-shirt for a given brand might come in three colors and sizes. In addition, product variants also share many common characteristics like their title, brand, category, description, and more. Product groups provide a way to efficiently create, organize, and manage all of these variants, along with their shared and unique characteristics, as one related unit.

***

## Product Group Window

<figure><img src="/files/yMYIZtrIWjNoUOB64Hfl" alt=""><figcaption><p>The Product Group Window.</p></figcaption></figure>

The top half of the Product Group Window manages **shared properties** given to the products within that product group. These properties contain product information that all product variants share or inherit.

These include:

* **Brand**: The manufacturer of the product.
* **Title**: A clear description of your product.&#x20;
* **Item Names**: The individual and plural item names for products.
* **Vendor**: The primary vendor for the product group.
* **Type**: Select between inventoried, for products, or non-inventoried, for services rendered.
* **Tax Code**: Tax settings that apply to the products in the product group.

This includes all categories, attributes, keywords, pricing, and shipping details. Once a product group has been created, refer to the [Edit Product Groups section](/using-tuplo-studio/product-groups/edit-product-groups) for more details on updating it.

## Categories

<figure><img src="/files/a40Ko7Al8J2eJpKguQhq" alt=""><figcaption><p>The Categories section in the Product Group Window.</p></figcaption></figure>

At least one category is required to ensure a product group appears online. However, you can assign multiple categories to clearly define the group and its products. When more than one category is present, the Key icon indicates which category will represent the product group on your website.

To **add** categories to a product group:

1. **Open** the [Categories tab](/using-tuplo-studio/assets#opening-asset-tabs) in the Assets Window.
2. **Select** a category.
3. **Drag and drop** it into the categories list in the product group.

When multiple categories are assigned to a product group, the first category assigned automatically becomes the **Key Category**.

To **change** the key category:

* **Select** the desired category.
* **Click** the Make Key button.

***

## Prices

<figure><img src="/files/EqbGfVHvWsS8H6ldImYW" alt=""><figcaption><p>Pricing entries for the Product Group.</p></figcaption></figure>

The **prices** specified in this section are default values. Any products you create in the product group will inherit these default prices.&#x20;

Tuplo Studio automatically calculates the profit and savings for in-store and online products based on the entered values. **Profit** represents how much you can make from a purchase compared to the product cost, while **Savings** indicate how much a customer can save based on the product's MSRP.&#x20;

Savings are displayed on the product group's webpage for customers to see when they browse your website.

* **Price:** In-store price.
* **Online:** Website price.
* **MSRP:** Manufacturer's suggested retail price.
* **MAP:** Minimum advertised price.
* **Wholesale:** The price you pay per item when ordering products from a vendor.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Quick Tips!**

When these values are modified, the pricing of existing products in the product group will not change. To modify the pricing of individual products, see the [Edit Products](/using-tuplo-studio/product-groups/edit-products) page.
{% endhint %}

***

## Shipping

<figure><img src="/files/RDiriRrx9bnVp8ZJXwCV" alt=""><figcaption><p>The Shipping Section of the Product Group Window.</p></figcaption></figure>

Using the product group **Shipping** **tab**, you can apply standard box dimensions and weights for the product group and any products built within it. Additionally, you can set values for Turnaround Days and Minimum Shipping Amount (Min Amt).

Like pricing, shipping values are applied to products created in the product group. When these values are updated, no existing products are affected.

Additional entries allow you to indicate any required turnaround days and the minimum amount required in shipping costs.

***

## Keywords

<figure><img src="/files/bMU4GSKCBDfD8fmuIc3b" alt=""><figcaption><p>Keyword section of the Product Group Window</p></figcaption></figure>

* **Click** the entry field.
* **Type** the new keyword.
* **Press** Return.

To **remove** keywords:

To **add** images:

* **Drag and drop** an image directly from the Image Assets window into the Description Editor.
* **Paste** an image URL into a text block.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Quick Tips!**

* **Non-Visual Properties**: Product characteristics that cannot be directly seen but play a role in functionality performance. These include clothing fit type, hard drive storage capacity, and tire tread.

{% hint style="info" %}

# Edit Products

Product Groups / Edit Products

After adding products to a product group, the next step is to ensure they each have the correct details assigned to them. While new products assume the pricing and shipping details assigned to the product group, you can choose to edit product details at any time.

***

## Product Details

<figure><img src="/files/JkC7SQmA3Pe2PPnSmqm8" alt=""><figcaption><p>Reviewing Product Details using List View in the Product Group Window.</p></figcaption></figure>

## Product Activity

Depending on the situation, you might wish to keep a product from appearing on your website.

To do so:

1. **Select** a product.
2. **Choose** <mark style="color:blue;">**More Options Menu > Activate/Deactivate**</mark>.

To do this:

1. **Select** the desired product.

## Image Assets vs Product Images <a href="#h_01j0s0tfd17pj7jgar9c1nyqec" id="h_01j0s0tfd17pj7jgar9c1nyqec"></a>

Before we discuss **Product Images** further, we want to clarify how they differ from the images you add to Tuplo Studio as assets. Images you add to Tuplo Studio as assets are **strictly for product descriptions**. Product images, however, should relate directly to the visual properties you assign to a product group.

***

## Add an Image

Newly built products appear in your product group without an assigned image. Depending on the rest of the product's information

To **add** images to products:

* **Drag and Drop** the image from your system directly onto the desired product.

## Image Order

The order in which images appear when assigned to a product determines the order displayed on your website. Additionally, the first image, or the one farthest to the left, will be the primary image featured for that product.

# Product Packs

Product Groups / Product Packs

<figure><img src="/files/7gCbujOvXpNfxbFYTuFQ" alt=""><figcaption><p>A Product Pack Template in the Product Group Window.</p></figcaption></figure>

**Product Packs** are bundles of products available for purchase as a single unit, typically at a discounted price. They are commonly used to facilitate bulk orders or incentivize customers to purchase more of a product.

Similar to visual and non-visual properties when defining products, applying a product pack to a product alters the product listing online to include an option to purchase that product in a pack.&#x20;

***

## Product Packs

Starting with a **Product Pack,** define the following details to apply when building product pack items.

* **Title**: A simple title for the pack.
* **Code**: The suffix applied to product IDs to designate the pack.
* **Quantity**: The count of how many products are in the pack.
* **Price**: The price of the pack in a retail setting.
* **Online** **Price**: The price of the pack in an online store setting.

With those details in mind, to **build** a new pack template:

# Orders

Manage and perform customer transactions.

<figure><img src="/files/IL261dcie3accSXoa8J8" alt=""><figcaption><p>Orders are shown in the Orders tab of the Navigator Window.</p></figcaption></figure>

The **Orders tab** showcases your orders and offers the standard navigator options to filter the items shown. You can create your orders here and access the Order Details Window to explore your orders and their details.

Orders are **created** in one of three ways.

* **Online:** Customers place orders and require little interaction aside from handling payments and shipping the products.
* **In-Store Orders:** POS Orders, or Point-of-Sale Orders, involve a physical storefront. Customers bring the products to a register, where the transaction is performed, and walk out with their purchase.
* **Back-office:** This occurs when a customer orders over the phone. You would enter the order just like in the store, with some extra steps for processing payments.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Quick Tips!**

Please check the [Point-of-Sale Mode](/using-tuplo-studio/kiosk-mode) section for more details on how POS Orders differ from your other orders.

## Add Order Window

Orders are created in the Add Order Window which you can access via several locations.

### Order Designations

* Point of Sale - Orders that are placed by customers in a physical store location, such as at a register at checkout.

{% hint style="info" %}

## Payment Types

**Tuplo Studio** supports processing these payment types:

* Credit
* Debit
* Cash
* Checks
* Gift cards
* Other seller-defined payments (Advanced Feature)

***

## Accepting Payments

If you have a physical retail location, credit card payments are processed using a **PayJunction Smart Terminal** by either swiping, inserting, tapping, or manually entering card information. Terminals that support the tapping function are compatible with mobile payment services like Apple Pay and Google Wallet.

***

### Smart Terminal

1. **Click** the Add Payment button.
2. **Select** credit.
3. **Select** Smart Terminal.
4. **Enter** an amount.

## Sending

You have some options on how you would like to set up sending email communications with Tuplo.

* **Default Tuplo Mail:** This option lets you send and receive emails through Tuplo.net. Customers will see an annotation on your email that includes this address, so while this is a reasonable temporary solution, we suggest using either of the following options for the final setup.
* **SMTP:** Using this option, you can remove the tuplo.net tag from your emails so customers see that your communication came directly from your domain. This is a fairly standard process regardless of your email client, and you can likely find steps to do so on their support pages.
* **Mailjet:** If you work with your own Mailjet account, you can easily connect these services by simply entering your API and Secret Keys. Less common than the SMTP options, Mailjet provides similar services.

### Avalara Locations

Once you've verified that your Avalara account is connected, you can use the Get Avalara Locations button to generate a drop-down menu with any locations specified in your Avalara Account. Then, select the desired location to which you want sales tax transactions to be tied.

***

Additional settings to configure after connecting your Avalara service include:

* **Default Freight Code**: The default Avalara AvaTax System Tax code for Freight/Shipping.
* **Enable Tax Calculation**: Activate this checkbox to turn on Avalara tax calculations. If deactivated, you will not receive sales tax calculations for your website or in Tuplo Studio.
* **Enable Address Validation**: Directs Tuplo to use Avalara to validate shipping addresses.
* **Recording Documents**: You have two options for recording your sales tax transactions. Discuss which option is best for your team with your Avalara representative.
  * **Online** - Refers to all orders placed online.
  * **Studio** - Refers to all orders created in Tuplo Studio.

{% endhint %}

## Avalara in Tuplo Studio

With an Avalara account attached to your Tuplo account, you can expect to see more options available.

### API Calls

Avalara defines calls to their service as one of two options.

* **Portions -** Tuplo performs these portion calls anytime tax is calculated. Avalara defines these with a 1:10 ratio compared to a full call.
* **Full Call** - Once tax is calculated and applied to an order, Tuplo performs a full call when accepting payments and closing the order.

Contact Avalara support for more details and information regarding how Avalara charges for portion and full calls.&#x20;

***

### Tax Status

You can view more details on tax items in your orders by right-clicking them and choosing the Tax Details option.

* **Committed**: Refers to collected tax items. Modifying the order in any way that would cause tax items to require recalculation will remove this status and replace it with uncommitted.
* **Uncommitted**: Tax items that have yet to be collected or need calculation.
* **Temporary**: Tax items built while Avalara is connected but not enabled are given this status. Third-party tax reporting services like NetSuite can use tax items that use this status.

Tuplo, as a platform, will use Avalara to calculate taxes depending on the settings you define. Your tax data is stored for 30 days before it is archived.

Again, we are not tax experts, but we understand the responsibility of being a business owner and are committed to providing solutions as best we can. We highly recommend integrating Avalara tax solutions with Tuplo to manage the laborious task of tax requirements.

If you have any questions outside the functionality that Tuplo and Avalara provide, we kindly direct you to discuss them with Avalara or any other financial advisors you may have on your team.

# Google

Get Google working for you.

<figure><img src="/files/NxM5a5hOm5EMUUPqPWdJ" alt=""><figcaption><p>Google Preferences and Code Entries.</p></figcaption></figure>

Google offers many services that can greatly benefit the functionality and performance of your Tuplo store. You'll need a Google account to set these items up and it is recommended to use one that is dedicated to your business instead of a personal account.

***

## Google Account

Before setting up any Google services you'll need a Google account to do so. It's recommended to use or setup a Google account that is dedicated to your business versus utilizing a personal account. In this way, things like emails that are business related, like daily emails about your analytics or notices from Google Merchant Center will flow to your business email instead of your personal email.<br>

* **Visit** the [Google Account](https://accounts.google.com) page to create a new account

***

## Google Business Profile

If you have a physical retail establishment, then creating a Google Business Profile is a must-do first step to increase your business's online visibility. These profiles show when users search for your business name or products and services you provide. Doing this adds validity, increases your exposure and is a prerequisite for other Google services, primarily Google Merchant Center

{% hint style="info" %}
Google Business Profiles exist on their own and do not need to be configured in Tuplo.
{% endhint %}

1. **Log in** or create a new [Google Account](https://accounts.google.com).
2. **Create** a new [Google Business Profile](https://business.google.com).
3. **Designate** business details like phone numbers and hours of operation.
4. **Verify** your business.

<figure><img src="/files/MHZRTFOzwhLBfnhbMIMT" alt=""><figcaption><p>Google Business Profile homepage.</p></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="info" %}
**Quick Tips!**

In some cases, business verification can take up to 7 business days. To avoid waiting for verification, Tuplo recommends creating a Google Business Profile ahead of time when setting up your service with us.
{% endhint %}

***

## Google Merchant Center&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/Vh5B7ZjG2JBZJi3gljsV" alt=""><figcaption><p>Google Merchant Center homepage.</p></figcaption></figure>

Google Merchant Center allows businesses to upload and manage their product listings for display across Google services including Google Search and Google Shopping. Once setup, connect your new account with Tuplo and your products will appear organically in Google search results – however, connecting your Google Ads account to your Google Merchant Center account will allow you to run pay-per-click (PPC) ads thus boosting your product placement and increasing sales.<br>

1. **Visit** [Google Merchant Center](https://business.google.com/us/merchant-center/) and sign-in or create an account
2. **Configure** general settings for your business
3. **Go to** Products → Manage data sources → Add product source

# Configuring DNS

Steps and details covering how to connect your own domain to your Tuplo website.

While Tuplo provides hosting for your website, you can use your domain by pointing your DNS settings to our servers.

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Heads Up!**

During this process, SSL/TRS services must confirm that the new site is secure. This process is standard whenever making these adjustments to domains. It can take between 24 and 48 hours to complete, and you will find that the following services are unavailable until your site receives its SSL certificate.

* Tuplo Studio will be unavailable and inaccessible.
* Limited access to Dashboard settings.
* When navigating to your site, some browsers will alert traffic that the site may be unsafe.

\
Please ensure you have plenty of time before these changes and plan accordingly.
{% endhint %}

***

## Domain Direction

To begin, you'll need a domain provided by a third-party service. Ensure you know how your service refers to and manages A and Cname records. While most specifics are universal, some hosts may use differing titles when referring to specific details. Once you're confident you understand this, you can begin pointing your DNS to our servers.

***

### Server Locations and IPs <a href="#server-locations-and-ips" id="server-locations-and-ips"></a>

You will need the IP for your chosen server when first onboarding with Tuplo. If you need a reminder of which IP you chose, refer to the table below or contact our support team.

| Server                    | Service Region        | IP Address     |
| ------------------------- | --------------------- | -------------- |
| Bend, Oregon              | Western United States | 154.16.168.183 |
| Dallas, Texas             | Central United States | 154.16.170.200 |
| Charlotte, North Carolina | Eastern United States | Coming Soon! |

### Required Records

After you confirm the proper IP, you must make several records in your DNS settings.

1. An **A Record** of your Think Server pointed to the proper IP address.
   * thinkserver.\[name of your website].com
2. An **A Record** for the domain you want to use that also points to the proper IP address.
   * \[your website address].com
3. A **Cname record** for the address above, including the [www](http://www). prefix.
   * [www.\\\[your](http://www.\\\[your) website address].com

***

### FTP Records for Code Access

If you have access to your website code, you'll want to ensure you have the following A record to access your site's code on the new domain.

* An **A Record** for ftp pointed to the proper IP address.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Quick Tips!**

The Think Server address is required to connect your Tuplo Studio to your Tuplo website. Without this record, you cannot access your store in Tuplo Studio.
{% endhint %}

***

## SSL/TLS Certificate

After providing the correct records in your DNS settings, SSL/TLS services will begin checking your site to ensure its security. This process can take some time, but once completed, you can access your website using a secure prefix and regain full access to Tuplo and Tuplo Studio services.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Quick Tips!**

If you attempt to navigate your site using https\://\[your web address].com the page will default to the Outtulo demo site. Don't worry. Once SSL assigns the certificate, this won't happen.
{% endhint %}

***

## Tuplo Studio Server Direction

Due to the domain change, you will receive a prompt indicating that your server is unavailable. You must update the server settings to the new address.

To do this:

1. **Click** Change Server.
2. **Enter** your Store ID from the Group Profile page of your Tuplo Dashboard.
3. **Enter** your user login credentials.
4. **Lastly**, enter the new web address provided by the new domain.
