Products rarely have just one variation. For example, a t-shirt for a given brand might come in three colors and sizes. In addition, product variants also share many common characteristics like their title, brand, category, description, and more. Product groups provide a way to efficiently create, organize, and manage all of these variants, along with their shared and unique characteristics, as one related unit.
The Product Group Window is the primary location for managing product groups and their products.
To access the Product Group Window:
Select the Products tab of the Navigator Window.
Double-click a product group.
Quick Tips!
If the target icon is active, you can select a product group in the products tab to open that Group Window. Then, you can navigate using the arrow keys, and the window will update to match the selected product group.
List View displays all products in a group with detailed columns focusing on information related to product inventory and prices.
The Focus by Selection feature enables filtering of the products displayed. This is particularly useful when dealing with larger product groups, as it helps to reduce the number of displayed products and focus on the ones you are currently working with.
Focus by Selection When activated, selecting themes, visual and non-visual properties, and packs will filter products shown in the Product Group Window. You can toggle this feature on or off by clicking this icon.
Clear Selection Resets any selections of themes, visual or non-visual properties, or packs when using the focus by selection feature.
The Product Group Status provides a snapshot of the product group's overall health. If a red light is displayed next to any entries, it indicates that a product is missing information, which affects whether customers can see or purchase it on your website.
Online Status: Indicates the product group status as defined by the Online Status Toggle.
Categories: Indicates whether the product group includes a category.
Inventory: Indicates if a product in the product group has zero inventory.
Viewable: Indicates how many products in the product group are visible to website customers.
Purchasable: Indicates the number of products in the product group marked as unavailable.
Images Missing: Indicates when a product in the product group is missing images.
Pricing: Indicates when a product in the product group is missing pricing.
Description: Indicates when the product group is missing a description.
Quick Tips!
Products that lack certain information, such as an assigned category or an active online status, will not be visible on your website. However, if a product is missing information like inventory and pricing, customers will still be able to view the product but will not have the option to add it to their cart for purchase.
The Online Status toggle is found in the top right of the Product Group Window. Turning it off will hide the product group from customers browsing your website.
To change the online status:
Click the Activity Switch in the Product Group Window.
Inactive product group webpages are still accessible by direct link, but they display a notice stating they are unavailable.
Quick Tips!
You can also toggle the activity of a single product. For more information, check the Product Activity section.
To create a new product group:
Open the Products tab in the Navigator Window.
Choose More Options > New Product Group.
Enter the requested details.
Click the Add button or Press Return.
To delete a product group:
Select the desired product group.
Choose More Options > Delete Product Group.
Click OK to confirm.
Heads up!
Deleting a product group also deletes any products it contains.
